What Was Found in Email

Yes, there is a strongly dissenting view found in a public record on the county mail server.

There is one word that explains why an elected official would create the content with the vicious tone of "looking for something to crush with a 60 ton beast"--pride.

Some of the characteristic of pride are:

• * Cocky "know it all.''
  * Lacking in tolerance or patience for others' ideas, problems or feelings.
  * Smug in their self-righteousness.
  * Narrowly focused in life on self-aggrandizement.
  * Resentful of those who do not acknowledge their way as the way.
  * Selective in the people with whom they are willing to associate, only associating with people who are equally enlightened in their way.
  * Resentful of being challenged and get angry at others when a challenge arises.
  * In denial about having problems; in having too much pride they are skillful in turning helpful suggestions around, attacking the person who made the suggestion.
  * Sarcastic, caustic and biting in their comments toward people they believe to be beneath them or behind them in life.
  * Looking down their noses at people who react negatively to their opinions or comments.
  * Aristocratic in their view of life, treating most people as commoners.
  * Ready with a quip, answer or comment for everything and are happy to give unsolicited advice.
  * Hardheaded, stubborn and not easily swayed from the position they have taken on a question

This is not the "good kind" of pride we normally see in West Point graduates or among even E-1's in our military. 


West Point's Cadet Honor Code reads simply that

"A cadet will not lie, cheat, steal, or tolerate those who do."

 Lying is defined as: to deliberately deceive another by stating an untruth or by any direct form of communication to include the telling of a partial truth and the vague or ambiguous use of information or language with the intent to deceive or mislead.

Cheating is defined (in part): as to fraudulently acted out of self-interest or assisted another to do so with the intent to gain or to give an unfair advantage.

The issue facing voters now is will they give this elected officials the one more vote needed in this year's at large commissioner's race to turn him lose with his "60 ton beast".
